Recent Project Descriptions
Bowling Green
Municipal Utilities
Contact: Teresa Newman
Fiber Planners participated in the route selection and designed
the outside plant, pole by pole. We continue to assist in the material
ordering process and training the installation crews.
Bristol
Virginia Utilities Board
Contact: Jim Kelley
Fiber Planners has assisted BVUB with all outside plant design for
seven phases containing over 100 miles of ADSS cable in the city.
We wrote their cable, splicing and construction specifications and
evaluated the bid responses for their technical aspects. We also
trained the construction crews in proper installation methods and
monitored their progress.
City
of Concord, NC Electric Systems Department
Contact: Bill Seamone
Fiber Planners has assisted the city with their outside plant design
and engineering since the budget was set aside to advance Concords
SCADA and communications in Jan., 1999. We have designed their backbone
system from downtown to the new city complex and two phases of loops
to create redundant systems. We have written their cable, splicing,
and construction specifications and evaluated the bid responses
for their technical aspects.
Northern Virginia
Electric Cooperative (NOVEC)
Contacts: Jim Moxley and Joe Waltz
Fiber Planners has assisted NOVEC with all outside plant design
for six projects totaling over 80 miles of ADSS cable. Last year
NOVEC completed the installation phase of a 43 mile section including
primary fiber capacity to America Online world headquarters.
Paducah
Power System
Contact: David Clark
Fiber Planners conducted an on-site route selection study. We selected
pole lines with the most potential for municipal government users
(city buildings, substations, fire stations, E-911 center, police
departments) and commercial/industrial users. Documentation was
provided to justify the routes as well as a limited phone survey
of potential fiber lessees to judge the value of such services.
We then designed 65 miles of fiber routes and PPS is in the process
of installing their cable. |
